jitters

it is 1:51AM on sunday, the first of may; today is my moving day. i am alone at my mother's apartment, sitting in my sad, naked little bedroom. a lot has happened in these four walls. today my life changes completely. i'm scared shitless. i've finished all of my packing. i can't sleep, although i have tried countless remedies, (this blog post is yet another attempt).

all i can do now is countdown the hours and make the best of this opportunity to start fresh.

recipe | Spicy Egg Wrap

so, the plate looks slightly weird, but this is what i made for breakfast this morning:
1) spicy egg wrap; my grandfather's recipe for delicious spicy eggs that i wrapped up in a chili paratha
2) bananas and mango
3) muesli

my excuses for not eating breakfast: i don't have time/i'm too lazy. i woke up feeling unusually hungry (i normally can't stomach anything until i've been awake for at least an hour,) and i have got a lot to get done before work so i figured i may as well whip something up to get my day started right. i really enjoyed it and it had actually been one of my new year's resolutions to start eating breakfast more, so i guess i should get back on that. i decided to post a little how-to on the wrap, and then next tuesday i'll do the same sort of post, but for the muesli. i make containers and containers of muesli at the beginning of every week and eat it like crazy. but enough about that, on to the eggs! (also, please bear in mind this is the first time i've shared any sort of recipe of mine, so if the format/instructions are unclear, i apologize in advance!)

this recipe makes two wraps! so you can enjoy both or share it with someone

what you'll need:
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 spanish onion
  • 2 green chilies
  • a handful of cillantro
  • 2 grape tomatoes
  • 2 frozen parathas (i used Shana's)
  • 1 1/2 parmesean cheese
  • 1 slice of velveeta packaged cheese

directions:
cut up the onion, chilies, tomato and cillantro.
place a bit of butter in a pan and toss in onions. cook until slightly translucent. scramble eggs in a bowl with a dash of milk, add in cut up chilies, cillantro and tomato. pour mixture into frying pan.
i hope you don't need me how to tell you to scramble eggs. once the eggs are almost done cooking, sprinkle parmesean cheese over them and let it melt a little bit.
cook the parathas according to the instructions on the packet, once ready, place on plate and place velveeta slices on top. add the scrambled eggs, wrap it up and voila! egg wrap.

youtube | Vintage Cosmetics

i have been a long-time subscriber to the talented make-up artist Lisa Eldridge's make-up channel on youtube. about a week ago she started a new series about vintage make-up; less of a tutorial type videos and more about the history of beauty and cosmetics. i have fallen in love with this series and can't stop checking back to see the latest installment. if you have an hour or two to spare, make yourself a cup of tea, grab a blanket and play as many of her videos back-to-back as you can! i promise you; you will come out having learned a few tips and tricks, a little bit of history, and you may be slightly addicted!

fashion | Upcycled Bags

came across these wild upcycled bags on peace4you! they're beautifully constructed and made. every little piece is made from recycled materials; the last one is made completely from a recycled and washed leather-jacket. really, really great products from the looks of it. check out their Etsy shop here.

project | Washi Eggs

since easter is almost upon us, i figured i would quickly post a few pictures of these washi eggs. i discovered them while browsing through some arts & crafts blogs and haven't been able to get them out of my head since. the eggs are covered in the same paper that is used to make origami! i love how all the different patterns and colours clash with eachother in the most immaculate manner. i've purchased a few sets here and am now eagerly awaiting their arrival so i can make a basketful of these babies. once i get make them i will definitely be posting a tutorial.

inspiration | Bedroom Decor I

my moving date is fast approaching and i've been absolutely addicted to dwellinggawker and tumblr for decor inspiration. i'm really, really loving little trinkets, metals, dark wood finishes, indoor plants and glass containers of all sorts. these images have all been saved, printed, and glued in my shopping planner. can't wait!

fashion | Deer Ring

i had taken a photo of my outfit to post but the image was far too blurry to post, so instead i'm posting a photo of this ring. i've been wearing it for most of the week and have gotten incessant compliments and inquiries about it. i purchased it from ALDO a few months back and found it hanging around on my desk the other day. come to think of it, i can't remember why i didn't start wearing it sooner!
